Time on my hands

This past week or so has been quite interesting.  What started out for me looking for a good over the shoulder hobo bag has turned into me blogging!  How did I get here?  I’ll tell you. While looking for the ever evading bag a thought struck me.  I sew!   I love to sew and have been doing so for most of my life.  If you must know, I’ve been sewing since Jr. High and I thought I can make me a bag.

I started out googling hobo bags on the computer. That didn’t work out to well cause I got everything from shopping bags, plastic bags, or even businesses that sold them.  My daughter suggested I use Pinterest.  So I finally broke down and got a Pinterest account.   Side note:  Not a huge fan of social media, the only thing I have is FB.  Once I had the account I started searching for bags and holy moly!  I was setting up boards, pinning left and right and instead of playing games on my smartphone…I was PINNING!

That’s when the simple bag for me turned into an OBSESSION.  I wanted to make bags, purses, totes, fabric baskets for everyone I knew and then another idea hit me.  Why not sell them on Etsy?!  I have downloaded numerous patterns of bags of all shapes and sizes, ran to the fabric store, not once but twice to get fabric.  What is wondrous about making bags is that you can use any and all types of fabric.  Unlike making clothes which I also do, but when you see a clothing pattern you are limited to the type of fabric you can use.  With bags, the sky is the limit! WOO HOO!!

Currently I have a lot of time on my hands because I have recently moved to Oregon state and looking for work. (That’s a whole other story)  I don’t like being idle and I can only clean the house, do laundry and dishes so many times throughout the day!  Needless to say I have made a Square Jewel Charm Bag, Mini fabric boxes, Betty Bag out of Hello Kitty material for my granddaughter, and a Reversible Hobo bag…not for me of course!  BUT…I have so much fabric still I will have plenty of things to keep me busy for a few more days then it will be off to the fabric store once again.

So you ask…how did I get here?  Of course another thought….I should probably blog about my creations I am making, have links to both my Pinterest site and once I get my Etsy account up and running have that here too!

I can also share my insight on the items I make to help others through the confusing or difficult parts.

Thanks for stopping by. :0)
