About Me

I am a mother of 4 children, 3 of whom are grown and out on their own.  My son Tyler who is 13 years old lives with me and my boyfriend in Oregon.  I have recently moved here and with time on my hands have chosen to take this opportunity to let the creativity shine.  I’ve been sewing most of my life and I still feel that I am a novice/beginner  but at my age of 49, soon to be 50 I am still trying to hone my skills as a seamstress.

My kids come to me to hem this or take in that all the time even though I live miles away.  I will find packages in the mail and I will get a text message with instructions.  LOL.  One of the best moments happened recently when my son Tyler came home from school to tell me that he is in sewing/cooking class and he wants to stay in the class!  Of course he has about 9 other boys in that class so he’s showing some solidarity only! (That’s what he tells me)  I did tell him that I expect an A out of that class.

I’ve spent most of my career in the private sector working as an Executive Assistant in many industries but currently find myself looking for work only because I moved to Oregon to be with my boyfriend. As I continue my quest to be gainfully employed, I will be here blogging and posting about the various sewing projects I am working on.

Just remember… “Positive things happen to Positive people” and let us not forget “Everything happens for a reason”.

I am trying to hem my short wife”s jeans. We have an old singer machine that I brought down from the attic, and it does not have any attachments, such as a zipper foot. Any suggestions?

You don’t need a zipper foot to hem jeans. But if you don’t have any attachments including a preset foot, write down the make and model and go to your local sewing store or fabric store and see if they have one for your machine.
